Through installation, film and photography, issues surrounding identity, labour, leisure, culture and community, are questioned in Dale Collier’s first solo exhibition at Curve GALLERY.
Dale is the 2014 winner of the University of Newcastle Margaret Olley Post Graduate Art Scholarship Award. An emerging interdisciplinary arts activist Dale embraces the relationship between new media, live art and community cultural development.
Memories Redact! is driven by Dale’s desire to re-contextualise discarded objects together with neglected histories, in an amplified emotional response to throw-away culture and Australian history. Dale Collier proposes that we can’t just dispose of our history with the same disregard we have for the family’s slightly out-dated television set.
