UK Artists Fuller, Hicklin and Hill are invited to Newcastle to investigate a reconsideration of landscape through fine art practice offering reimagined perspectives of Landscape by traveling on foot. By exploring peripheral spaces, geographical and cultural histories and connection to place through walking they intend to challenge the traditions of landscape art and the fixed view.
Research is focused on two main locations The Mersey Estuary in Liverpool and Hunter Estuary New South Wales. Exploring differences between northern and southern hemisphere cultures, the artists will investigate how ideas of navigation have a direct correlation to our understanding and relationship to landscape.
Contemporary Printmakers Forum: Sunday 11th December 2-4pm
Considering traditional mapping and an egocentric bias for navigation, the artists will use documented public rights of way and footpaths on which to base their journeys as well as investigating new insights and understanding of cultural differences and connection to landscape through multi-sensory understanding.
By reinterpreting the landscape experienced through walking journeys the artists Fuller, Hicklin and Hill will produce artworks and installations to show the transitory and unique properties of such landscapes.
